A flame for the podium: Pininfarina’s 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix trophy brings the country’s “Land of Fire” identity into the celebration of victory.
The trophy rises in a flame-inspired form. Engraved details on its sides draw on Azerbaijan’s carpet-weaving tradition, using the Khan Qarabag motif to evoke speed, movement and rotation. The design connects the energy of Formula 1 with a decorative language rooted in the host country.
Its story follows Pininfarina’s 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix trophy. That earlier design paired elements of different heights and contrasting polished and satin surfaces to express the relationship between historic and modern Baku. Pininfarina’s atelier, Pininfarina Segno, made the 2024 trophy in 3D-printed aluminium and finished it by hand. The organiser presented the 2025 edition as a renewed design within this flame-inspired tradition.
On 21 September 2025, Max Verstappen won in Baku ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz. For Sainz, third place marked his first podium with Williams. The trophy therefore belongs to both a design story and a sporting moment: a dominant victory for Verstappen and a breakthrough result for Sainz’s new team.
From the 2024 Pininfarina commission to the renewed 2025 edition, the Baku trophy uses local visual culture to give a Formula 1 podium a distinct sense of place.
